Master's Degree Examination Application Notice — Detailed Description (Department of Mechanical Design Engineering & Precision Mechanical Engineering)

1. Thesis Topic Review
- Deadline: Semester 1: by September 30; Semester 2: by February 26
- Required Documents (paper): Master's Thesis Topic and Professional Field Alignment Checklist
- Note: Must be reviewed by the Graduate Student Affairs Committee and approved at a departmental meeting before applying for the degree examination.
2. Oral Examination Application
- Deadline: Semester 1: by November 30; Semester 2: by April 30
- Required Documents (online application – Degree Examination Application Form): 1. Full name (Chinese and English; leave a space after punctuation in English name); 2. Contact phone number (mobile); 3. Thesis title (Chinese and English); 4. Transcript including current semester enrollment; 5. Thesis abstract (including Chinese and English title, in both languages); 6. Certificate of completion of academic ethics education course; 7. Published or accepted journal/conference papers (supporting documents: award certificates and final abstract with full text); 8. Thesis originality comparison report (excluding references, must not exceed 30%); 9. Thesis advisor / co-advisor; 10. Degree examination committee members (3–5 members including the advisor, with at least one external member).

Notes:
- Uploaded files must be in PDF format.
- In English thesis titles, the first letter of each word must be capitalized, except for prepositions.
- Supporting documents for published or accepted journal/conference papers must be uploaded to the "Supporting Documents" field.
- The institution of each committee member must include both the university name and department name; do not use abbreviations.
- Qualification documents for committee members (required for categories 3 or 4) must be uploaded to the "Other Documents" field.
- After the advisor approves the thesis draft, send it to committee members for review at least 2 weeks before the oral examination.

3. Ten Working Days Before Oral Examination
- Deadline: 10 working days before the confirmed oral examination date

Required Documents:
- Online application – Degree Examination Confirmation Form: 1. Draft thesis originality report (excluding references, must not exceed 30%); 2. Committee members (3–5 including advisor, with at least one external member); 3. Examination fee – total subsidy per student for all committee members (including advisor, excluding transportation) is capped at NT$5,000: external members up to NT$2,500 each, internal members (including advisor) up to NT$1,200 each; 4. External member transportation method; 5. Date and time; 6. Venue.
- Electronic files: 7. Degree Examination Score Sheet; 8. Committee Appointment Letter (no border).

Notes:
- Once approved, please download PDF files from the e-Care system (Degree Examination Score Sheet and Committee Appointment Letter, no border) and email them to the department office (ua0215@nfu.edu.tw).
- Confirm the venue with the administrator and complete the reservation procedure in advance.
- The department office will notify you to collect the "Degree Examination Score Sheet," "Official Appointment Letters," and "Payment Receipt or Acknowledgment."

4. Seven Working Days Before Oral Examination
- Deadline: 7 working days before the confirmed oral examination date
- Required Documents (paper): Elevator announcement document

Notes:
- Post the announcement in the elevator (must be stamped by the building management committee) and outside the examination venue.
- The announcement must include committee members, time, venue, and thesis title (format is flexible).
5. Day of Oral Examination
- Deadline: On the day of the formal oral examination
- Required Documents (paper): 1. Degree Examination Scoring Form; 2. Committee Review Certificate; 3. Degree Examination Score Sheet (scores calculated and filled in by the convener [the advisor should invite one external member to serve as convener]; convener and advisor sign in the respective fields); 4. Payment Receipt or Acknowledgment (as described in Section 3); 5. Full thesis originality comparison report (excluding references, must not exceed 30%).

Notes:
- Print the Degree Examination Scoring Form according to the number of committee members.
- Committee members must review and check the "Alignment of Thesis Topic with Professional Field" and "Thesis Originality Comparison Review" sections on the Scoring Form.
- If any committee member recommends changing the thesis title (Chinese or English), specific revision suggestions must be written on the paper Scoring Form; additionally, update the Degree Examination Score Sheet and Committee Review Certificate in the e-Care system, then re-download, print, and sign.
- The oral examination score is the average of all committee members' scores, rounded to the nearest whole number.
- Please complete all document and venue confirmation tasks in advance.
6. Within Seven Working Days After Oral Examination
- Deadline: Within 7 working days after the oral examination
- Required Documents (paper): 1. Payment Receipt; 2. Degree Examination Scoring Form; 3. Degree Examination Score Sheet; 4. Committee Review Certificate.

Notes:
- Log the oral examination score in the e-Care system and upload a scanned copy of the completed and signed Degree Examination Score Sheet.
- The "Committee Members' Signatures" on the Committee Review Certificate must include the advisor's signature.
- Submit all documents to the department office and department head for review and approval.
7. Oral Examination Deadline
- Deadline: Semester 1: by January 31; Semester 2: by July 31
- Note: If the oral examination is not completed by the deadline, the student must re-register and pay fees at the start of the following semester (approximately February / September) and reapply for the oral examination procedure before retaking the degree examination.
8. Departure (Withdrawal) Procedures
- Deadline: As announced by the Academic Affairs Office – Teaching Division

Required Documents:
- Paper: 1. Thesis – 3 copies of the final version; 2. Final thesis originality comparison report (excluding references, must not exceed 30%).
- Online: 3. Scanned copy of the final thesis originality comparison report (must bear the signatures and stamps of the student and advisor, with date).
- Items: 4. Return any borrowed items.

Notes:
- Thesis submission must follow the library's thesis upload guidelines; only after a successful upload is the thesis considered "final."
- The thesis cover color must follow the department's specifications for that year and be bound with lamination.
- The department office retains 1 copy; the library displays 2 copies.
- Upload the final full-text originality comparison report (signed and stamped by both the student and advisor, with date) to the e-Care system, and submit the paper copy to the department office.
- Online departure procedures require the advisor's approval before the student can proceed.
- Students who fail to submit their thesis by the maximum study period will be deemed to have failed the degree examination and will be dismissed in accordance with regulations.
Important Reminders
Always use the latest version of all forms as published on the department website (download the most recent version). Please complete each stage of the process well in advance — late submissions will not be accepted.
